Mean Girls (or Boys)

Ok, I am going to touch on this hopefully just once, but who knows.

Here goes ... constantly posting pictures of your new larger than life diamonds, cars, watches, houses, etc ..., is just tacky and telling.  No one really cares.  No one really is that happy for you.  Because inside everyone's head, there is this thought --->  "Wow.  He/she must have not received enough attention as a kid, so now we all have to suffer for it.  Where's the 'hide' button?"

I like pretty things too.  But if you only feel good when making superficial and insignificant attempts to elevate yourself above another, it's just mean (and petty) ... makes me think you're like my 4 year old, when he was 3.  BUT, even he knows better.

Oh, and one other thing.  Mean girls are never pretty and always finish last.  If you have to put down another girl because some boy ignores you or has moved on, it's pretty sad.  It's not her fault.  It's probably your fault ... because you're mean.

Not a Review, Just Love of 2 Films

I just finished watching The American, again.  Loved it even more this time around. Minutes in, the cinematography captivates by appealing to my aesthetics.  Whenever I can hit the mental "pause button," and each scene becomes the perfect still, I add the movie to my "favorites" list.  You can do that throughout this entire film.  I also relish in the tension and slow build-up ... but apparently this was too slow for some.  My first time seeing this in the theater, movie goers started yawning, getting antsy, and even walked out?  Huh?  I get it, but so sad.  Though, in actuality, there is nothing American about The American.  People here have grown so accustomed to being fed the typical Hollywood actions/thrillers.  They had no idea what to do with this gem, directed by the super talented Anton Corbijn.

I am also a fan of Control.  Again, another character study.  More dialogue and less silence in this film, but altogether, still leaving me captivated by the beauty of each scene.  Plus, Joy Division ... who doesn't love them?  And Ian Curtis, flawed genius.  Okay.  Yes, Anton Corbijn ... he's pretty great.  And after watching his movies, you can tell he is also a photographer, right?  Right.  I'm tired.  It's late.  I need to go to bed.

See both, if you haven't already.

Hello 2011

I'm so glad 2010 is in my rearview mirror.  Not to say I didn't enjoy it, on the contrary, as it contains some of the best moments of my life.  I'm just ready for the new.  What goals will this year hold?  Well, it's not exhaustive, but certainly hopeful....

I'm saving most of my free time for only people I like or just myself.  It seems selfish, but I don't think I can fake a smile to combat the awkwardness anymore.  Small talk makes me internally cringe, especially with people possessing the emotional aptitudes of 3 year olds.  I'm drawn to the genuine, kind, and purposeful.  Hopefully, simultaneously avoiding the fakes out there.  I may not become popular, but at least forgo pandering at the masses.  Life is too valuable, why would I want to dilute it?  Certain people attempt to convince and conjure up all kinds of nonsense not worth acknowledging.  Sift through the noise, and maybe begin to hear truth again.

Secondly, I want to ... hmmm.  Don't know yet.  I think I will start with just the first goal.  It seems heavy already, as everything is easier said than done,  and I am such a creature of habit.

BCBG Max Azria Spring/Summer 2011 RTW

Suprisingly, I adore almost everything from their spring/summer rtw, so had to quickly do another post.  This time ... minidresses.  I again, would mostly do flat sandals, but with hair down, soft tousled waves.  Minimal jewelry, like thin gold bangles.  And lip gloss.

ChloƩ Summer 2011 RTW

The neutral palette playing with fluid and skimming lines ... ultra feminine, though certainly not frilly.  All one needs is beautifully toned skin, and barely there make-up.  Also love how everything is paired with flats.  And as always, starting from the top 2 as my favorites.

Laura Jansen--Use Somebody

I have been slightly obsessed with this cover for the past few months.  I always get like this around the holidays ... a sweet melancholy is a good descriptive.  I love watching her sing this; but if you really want a treat, check out the video of her performing this on her site.
